The Dilworth Trust Board is pleased to announce the appointment of new Trustee John Morris ONZM, who brings significant experience in secondary school education to the role.
Mr Morris has had an extensive career in education leadership and governance roles. He served as the tenth Headmaster of Auckland Grammar School, and has since consulted in a wide variety of schools on governance, strategy and development, and raising student achievement.
In 2019, Mr Morris became the first Executive Principal of Crimson Global Academy (CGA), an online school that delivers real-time learning to students located globally. During his tenure, he oversaw the school’s creation, development and formal registration.
Mr Morris has significant governance experience, including the commercial board of ACG Colleges Group. He was a Commissioner on the Tertiary Education Commission, and was a member of the University of Auckland Council.
Other education governance roles include being a member of the NZ Partnership Schools’ Board, chairing the Education Council of Aotearoa NZ Transition Board and serving as the founding Chairman of the Association of Cambridge Schools NZ.
Dilworth Trust Board Chairman Aaron Snodgrass said he was thrilled to welcome Mr Morris to the Board.
“Mr Morris is highly respected within the education and governance sectors, and we are delighted to have him join the Dilworth Trust Board as a Trustee,” he said.
“We look forward to the contribution Mr Morris will make to Dilworth School, as we continue in our endeavour to provide outstanding care and opportunities to our students and support their journeys to becoming exceptional young men.”
Mr Morris said he identifies strongly with Dilworth School’s values and mission, which supported his decision to apply for the Board.
“I will seek to provide a fresh perspective to the Dilworth Trust Board and apply my educational and governance experience to support the excellent work of Headmaster Dan Reddiex and his team,” he said.
Mr Morris is the first of two new appointments to be made by the Board, following the retirement of Frances Valintine in March 2022, and Simon Curran who stepped down in early 2023, after eight years of service.
