Ezrah Eagle, last year’s Deputy Prefect and Dilworth Sportsman of the Year, has some exciting plans as he steps into his new future and life as a Dilworth Old Boy.
First, he will head home to Hawkes Bay, where he will play for the Hawks for six months. Then he’s off to the USA, the home of basketball, to follow his dreams and play his sport to the highest level he can while also attending University in the US to study political science.
Ezrah loved his time at Dilworth and said so much inspired him. “There are no barriers to the opportunities on offer at Dilworth – for me, I had access to all the basketball tournaments but even things like school trips”.
Two other things stuck in his mind: the “Incredible support of the teachers and coaches, Mr Josiah Maama, my Basketball Coach for one”. And the inspiration of Dilworth Old Boys. “On day one at Dilworth, I saw the banners in the hall with the stories of Old Boys with so many outstanding achievements. I said to myself, one day, I want to be up there”.
Ezrah did a wonderful job, alongside Head Prefect Joshua Futi and the 2024 Prefect Team. Basketball at Dilworth is going from strength to strength, and he has clearly influenced a younger generation of Dilworth basketballers.
