We are thrilled to spotlight Rogan McPherson, a Dilworth School graduate from the class of 2017, whose passion for writing has continued to flourish in his tertiary studies and beyond.

During his time at Dilworth, Rogan displayed a keen interest in writing, which has evolved into a significant pursuit in his academic and personal life. Currently in the final year of his Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in English at the University of Waikato, Rogan is poised to take the next steps in his writing journey.

Next year, Rogan intends to embark on a Master of Professional Writing, further honing his craft and skills in the literary world. Following this, he plans to attain a Graduate Diploma of Teaching, with a focus on teaching secondary English. His ultimate aspiration is to lecture at the tertiary level, inspiring and educating future generations of writers.

Beyond his academic pursuits, Rogan is also an aspiring novelist. He is currently working on his first novel, a project he aims to complete this year alongside his studies—a testament to his dedication and passion for storytelling.

Rogan's commitment to his craft was recognised this year with an Ella Burford Award, which will provide invaluable support for his living costs as he continues his journey as a full-time student.

We congratulate Rogan on his achievements thus far and look forward to witnessing his continued success in the world of writing and education
